I have a found a blog through blogcatalog.com about a public elementary school librarian in New York City. She has been a librarian at this school for six years. She mentioned in her blog about having an after school program about modern art. She also stated that the school does projects before an author or illustrator visits the school.
I liked the idea of having an author and/or illustrator visit our students. In the past seven years we have had one visit and it was just by chance. When I am able to be a librarian I would like to bring authors and illustrators into our school and let the children have a chance to be familiar with their works before they arrive. We have an excellent Arts program in our county. I can see a wonderful opportunity for collaboration between the Arts program and librarians in the county. It would benefit more students if many schools were able to share in the experience.
Below is a portion of her blag advertising an author event.

My first Blog post
This is my blog for 5013. This blog will help to document my studies in this course. I am interested in public school libraries. My focus will be on serving patrons from five years to 18 years of age. I want to be able to provide materials that are appropriate for all my patrons.
